Old value:: Smoking is legal outdoors and in private homes and clubs, but illegal indoors in places of employment, with the exception of places that primarily serve liquor.
Current: Smoking is legal everywhere, at the discretion of the property owner. However, service/employer property owners that allow smoking must provide a separate non-smoking section.
Proposed: Smoking is legal everywhere, at the discretion of the property owner, but is illegal in government-owned buildings.

Message | It depends what we call public locations. Non-smokers aren't going to get poisoned if someone walking down the same street is smoking - that's a public location. Maybe they'll get poisoned in a government office, so I would be willing to tolerate a ban on smoking indoors in poorly ventilated public-owned locations. Since inns, hotels, shops, offices, brothels, schools, football stadia, commercial aircraft etc are all private locations, they would be unaffected by this proposal. |
