Bill: Retirement Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: We Say So! Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: August 2634

Description[?]:

Accepting that choosing when to retire from employment should be the decision of the individual, whilst also accepting that any increase in the numbers of people deciding to retire early will increase expenditure on pension payments whilst providing a possibility of reduced income through taxation, the following legislation will be enacted:
Though the official age of retirement, at full pension entitlement, will continue to be 65, people wishing to take early retirement can do so at age 60, however they will lose 10% of full pension retirement. This entitlement will increase by 2% for each year that a person remains in employment until the age of 65.
Furthermore, should a person not wish to retire at age 65 but rather continue in full-time employment they will be allowed to do so. In order to provide a "thank-you" for the additional work and income provided to the State, for each additional full economic cycle that they remain in employment their pension entitlement will increase by an additional 1% up to a maximum of 10% above standard entitlement.

Those people working within "high-risk" public sector employment may retire at age 60 without penalty to the entitlement of pension and may additionally retire at age 55 with a reduction of pension entitlement in-line with that described above. Furthermore, those people who continue to work in employment outside of their previous "high-risk" employment for additional years will increase their pension entitlement by an additional 1% per full economic cycle up to a maximum of 15%.

"High-risk" employment includes, but is not limited to:-

Military
Front-line Police service
Front-line Fire service
National Health Sector

Message65 is the traditional age, 65 is the right, tried and true age. Why should the government spend more money on pensions when it has not been requested?

MessagePlease read the bill. The pension age will remain 65. What this bill does is allow those people who wish to retire early for whatever reason to do so and still maintain an income whilst guaranteeing that the additional expenditure of the government does not increase exponentially. Many people can continue to work up to 65 and beyond and this bill will allow that. Others are so tired by the age of 60 that forcing them to continue to work until 65 to gain their pension is wrong, this bill allows them to retire earlier, but they receive a financial "penalty" in that they lose up to 10% of their final pension.

Messageooc: It makes no odds to the budget as there is no economic system, nor is there likely to be.
