Bill: Leave Religious Decisions to Local Governments

Details

Submitted by[?]: Social Calvinist Unionist Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2119

Description[?]:

We see the majority of the problems concerning religion in our country to be due to the fact that the central government is trying to impose it's ideals on local governments, and bypassing the will of the people for the will of their own leadership. We propose that each Dominion be allowed to decide for itself laws regarding religion, so that the people ultimatly get what they want.

MessageWe cannot allow dominions to become theocratic, and thus making the commonwealth theocratic. Religious fundamentalism, whatever the religion, is wrong, and cannot be allowed.

MessageBut it is the will of the people if they decide to be theocratic. Of course, the dominions most likely will not, but we must give them the choice. Who do you think is better to decide: The people, or the big-wigs in Sondavita?

MessageAt least Geharon will stay secular. If Geharon ever gains independence, I am going to move my party to there. It is the most sane of the dominions.

MessageBut it's so BORING in Geharon, if you think about it. I mean, how fun is it to be a party representing a people that goes "We're pretty much indifferent on everything, and we like having good relations with our neighbors, but all we REALLY want to do is sit around and have BBQ's all year".

MessageWhat is wrong with BBQs. You can have steak, sausages, toast, onions, fish, shrimps, and prawns. Add some salads, sauce, and soft drinks, and you can party or watch sport. BBQs are a national passtime where I am from.

MessageThis is not theocratic! This is letting the PEOPLE decide what they want.

MessageIt's giving the state the option to interfere with the church, which at the moment it doesn't.

MessageAhem? You're party supported an effort to make only Christians citizens of Luthori. You'd rather the Church interfere in the State than the State interfere in the church?

MessageThere was a clear party political advantage in that: if only Christians could vote, who who they be likely to vote for?
