MessageWhy? The seats are weighted proportionally to population. Id est, it shouldn't really matter how many seats are in the Chamber. The increase is just a burden on taxpayers. If anything, we should cut seats.

MessageOOc: even though it could provide more intrigue... I will stick to our ic position. :P

IC: We believe our honourable colleague from Conservative party have not fully yet explored the situation with the population. We would abstain from calling them hypocrites, but have they paid attention to the demographic situation?
The first time our party tried to introduce a bill, encouraging population growth (February 2629) there were 213 million citizens; In April 2633 (the last time we did so) the population was accounting to 218 millions; In April 2636 it accounts for 220 millions.

So in 17 years the populations has grown by 7 millions. Would that be considered enough to.. increase the seats in the imperial chamber to 650? We believe the demographic situation, even though it is positive, should be even better.

Additional to that, according to our legislative system, the method used to determine the number of seats each region receives in the national legislature. Is based on a proportional algorithm that gives a very small advantage to larger regions, which means that the amount of seats a region "provides" to the imperial chamber changes accordingly to the difference in population.

So, is it in reality just an attempt to change the amount of the seats in imperial chamber inspired by recent victory and lack of desire to form coalition with socialist parties?

(ooc- i hope i didn't offend or anything, i didn't want nor didn't try to )

OOC: In your top comment I agree with you

IC: It would be hypocritic if we coalitioned with socialist parties, especially due to our economic policy and no matter whether coalitioning with socialist parties would be profitable in the circumstances, we must consider the Conservative Party Caucus first. Our apologies to the Right Honourable Gentlemen of the Hobrazian Social Justice Party if this has offended them.
