MessageAs Minister for the Environment and Tourism, I think as a Senate we have a duty to ensure the health and well-being of our country - both in its people and its unique aquatic life.

Already one of our major rivers is polluted and the life within that river will die - this cannot happen again.

Not only does it destroy this country's uniqueness but it affects our fishery economy also.

Due to elections approaching, I will be leaving this bill for debate and allowing further comments. The new government (whoever that maybe) can suggest to this party what to do with this bill - either move to a vote or cancel it. However the LNP intend to be in government this September, so I forsee no trouble here.
