Message | We find it terribly sexist that you would assume that only women would stay home to take care of children. |

Message | Women are naturally more paternal, it's a fact of evolution, therefore, while it's not always the case, it's likely that it will be the women who chooses to take care of the child. Of course their is the matter of single women with children who are the only one who could as well. |

Message | We find that it is very important that children have significant time with their parentschildren who do not see either of their parents often are more likely to become criminals. And, for the record, women are NOT naturally more paternal. Men are. That's why it's called "paternal" (from Latin "pater" [father]). |

Message | Women, evolutionarily are, hence why women live longer. Men, evolutionarily are at best provider of food, at worst just a source of sperm. |

Message | OOC: You're using correlational data to come to your conclusions about the evolutionary tendencies of men and women. Actual studies in psychology have shown that men and women are equally patient with certain tasks, which focused certain areas of the brain. Men, for instance, are much more spatially tuned (three dimensional images) while women are tuned to be able to recognize much more specific color variation. Oh, and also, my ex-wife and I have a five year old son who spends his time with both of us throughout the year. I haven't re-married (or even begun dating again). So, try not to focus on women when you're talking about children. As it turns out, some of us men want to be more than just "sperm donors", and if you think otherwise then I hope you can overcome whatever issues make you think men are cavemen. Some of us think, feel, and actually give a damn about people other than ourselves. Not saying you don't, but I know a few guys like that too. Doesn't mean we all are. I loved my ex-wife, I wasn't the one who left. To this day, and forever, I will love my son and do anything for him. Not just "provide food", but I'll make sure he is happy as well. His education, his emotional well being, and his physical health are ALL my primary concerns. That seriously is one of my real-life key issues, one of them that I get pretty heated over. Men aren't just walking sperm banks, even if it is popular these days to talk about how victimized women are and how horrible they've got it. How wonderful it must be to be a man! We've got to help the women! You know, being a man I learned something really quickly about our country's government in regards to women. When I walked into that court room, for the custody hearing, I was already a worthless piece of shit. I was guilty of anything she said. The judge looked at me with anger and fire in their eyes the minute I walked in. Yeah... if you've got single mothers, you should take the time to consider that you've also got single fathers. Women aren't the only ones who care. Some of them are even just "egg donors" too, you know. I know plenty of guys who take care of their kids full-time while the mother is off doing drugs, having wild sex parties, and deciding her kids aren't worth spending the time on. I'm going to stop now, I could just keep going all day. So frustrating... **fumes** IC: We believe that sexism and over-affirmative action is not the way to reach gender equality. We believe that providing benefits to one sex is gender inequality, regardless of which sex you are providing benefits for. |
