Bill: Trade Unions Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Rutanian Democratic Forum

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: October 2644

Description[?]:

Again: let trade unions as free organizations decide if they want to hold a ballot before strike or not, it's not on the government to decide their internal regulations.
For government, and for the employers, only one thing must be important: if the strike has some reasons, what can then bring to negotiations between trade unions as representatives of workers and employers' association(s).

MessageWe don't support this bill because we feel ballots help moderate unions that could possibly be militant and anti-governmental. However, we can be convinced into supporting this bill should arguments before voting.

MessagePrimarily, there are the same arguments that PCP presented in their opposition to Monetary Damage Repayment Act: less government interference. Government should not interfere with any organization from civic sector, no matter how they important may be. It's just like supressing those who we perceive as our enemies, which is anti-democratic, instead of cooperating with trade unions.
As for militant and antigovernmental unions, it seems that PCP has a lot of fear for them. But, Mr Speaker, I can assure that members of PCP do not have to fear militant unions. If some organization, be it a trade union, is militant and anti-governmental, there are other ways to stop them from violence and to preserve possibile negative influence on society and government. If an organization is against our constitution, it can be banned: it doesn't need some extra rule about "ballot before strike".

Therefore we think it's a good proposal: less government interference with nongovernmental sector; more cooperation for the good of everyone!

Random fact: Cultural Protocol bills must provide a real-life equivalent or short description for the ethnic groups, languages and religions contained in them, such that it would be easy for an unfamiliar player to understand (e.g. "Dundorfian = German"). Where appropriate, they should also provide guidance to players on where to find help with translations and character names. This might include, for example, links to Google Translate, Behind the Name's Random Name Generator and Fantasy Name Generators.
