Bill: Marriage and Civil Rights Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: We Say So! Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2644

Description[?]:

WHILST accepting that, for some, the act of marriage is a union between two people in a bond of love, whilst also accepting that for some the bond of love takes a different form, the Government will amend current legislation to take into account the freedom of the individual to make decisions on their personal life without the constraints of Government legislators.
In addition, the legality of civil rights unions or marriages are no business of the Government and should be decided upon by individuals themselves through whatever beliefs they hold, be they religious or not. By the Government making policy to effect these statutes the Government has involved itself upon the beliefs of others which it should have no business in so doing.

MessageGovernment should not be involved in peoples bedrooms and should not support nor deny peoples rights to choose.
By recognising both monogamous and polygamous marriages the government is involving itself in making moral decisions on the activities of its people. We state that there should be no policy on the legitimacy of polygamy vs monogamy allowing the individual to make the decision themselves without the government alienating those with a differing belief system.

Random quote: First and second class seats on public transport shall be BANNED! We are all FIRST CLASS people, regardless of whether we are rich or poor and can afford or not afford to pay for a more expensive seat. From now on, all seats on trains, buses, trams, planes and so on shall be the SAME. We will all travel in the SAME way, TOGETHER. ~ Friedrich Pfeiffer General Secretary of the Dorvish Communist Party
