| Message | We will oppose. Article 1 would be okay with us, except that it flies strongly in the face of the public will and we will choose not to fight the public will on the issue. Article 2 we disagree with, as we think we should have some minimal human rights standards about with whom we will conduct extradition. We should not send people back to highly repressive regimes. Article 3 we also disagree with, as it is homophobic. We realize that some troops' morale may be lowered by the presence of openly gay servicepeople, but we say to them "get over it" because it is not rational. |
