Message | The MDP believes the current law-coupled with no minimum wage.. as written discourages people from entering the work force. We believe supporting a minimum wage, and putting a time limit on welfare benefits will encourage people to find jobs. |

Message | How in the world will putting a time limit on welfare benefits lead to higher crime? Regardless if the person is being paid for doing nothing, or faces a time limit , doesn't change the fact that the person in question has alot of time on their hands. This is a gentle encouragement for them to seek jobs, and be productive members of society, and therefore, less likely to become part of the crime rate. |

Message | not so gentle in times of high unempoyment. |

Message | Crime isn't caused by people simply having a lot of time on their hands. It's caused by people not being able to feed their families, and having to steal to eat. Allowing people to work for themselves is all very well, but someone still has to pay them, so it only works if they have skills that happen to be in demand. |

Random quote: "Capitalism demands the best of every man- his rationality- and rewards him accordingly. It leaves every man free to choose the work he likes, to specialize in it, to trade his product for the products of others, and to go as far on the road of achievement as his ability and ambition will carry him." - Ayn Rand |
