Bill: Gov.0030.2662

Details

Submitted by[?]: 帝国公明党 (Teikoku Kōmeitō)

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: February 2663

Description[?]:

As our population grows, the world becomes less friendly and the environment being endangered by farm-spread
we feel this to be the right time to reintroduce the Urban farming initiative.

The Urban farm initiative had and can continue to have many benefits;
-Reduction in greenhouse gas emissions by drastically shrinking the length of transport by having the farms near
the major population centers.
-Allow for the large areas of normal farmland to be given back to nature.
-Provides local and organic produce.
-Increases national security by in three ways, limiting the amount of food needing to be imported, being able to
more adequately safeguard our food production and protect more of our food production facilities by having them
inside our main missile defence shield(s).

Upon the passage of this bill the following funding shall be allocated to the development of the following two forms
of Urban farming;
1. Land reclamation, taking otherwise unused plots of lands in cities and converting them into community garden
and/or farm plots.
2. The creation of vertical farm towers throughout Sekowan cities, metropolitan areas and megalopoli.

MessageWhat other problems? Environmental? Logistics? It\'s too expensive. Sekowo does not have the money for this type of investment especially when we have so much available land.

Sekowo area: 1,048,000 km^2
Sekowo population: 229,163,283 inhabitants (Sekowo proper in July 2662)

=> Sekowo density: 218.7 inhabitants per km^2

Sekowo has big cities, with skyscrapers and lots of people living densely there. Leaving much of Sekowo as rural.

DSP, how much is this going to cost the tax-payers? I\'m sure they already feel like they are being over-taxed and now they would have to pay more for food? Food is an essential part of human life. It is a basic right of man. The government should never willfully charge their citizens more for food.

OOC: Sekowo is less dense than countries like U.K., Netherlands, Japan, China, Israel, Belgium, Germany, ... all these countries survive with farms and cities combination. Just to put the numbers into perspective.

MessageThe environmental ones, the security ones.

Sekowo (proper) is also either city or mountains, we don\'t have alot of arable land in the first place.

And it would\'nt cost that much since the infrastructure is already in place, as we used to fund them, it was only the immatureness of the leaders of the PPS that lead to their defunding.

OOC:
All of those countries also import significant percentages, in fact Japan imports more than half (60%) of its food.
Now, since Sekowo proper is similar to Japan, IE massive cities and mountainous geography we can make the comparison that we would only be able to produce 40% of our own food.
