Bill: Constitutional Convention 2664

Details

Submitted by[?]: Liberal Party of Telamon

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2666

Description[?]:

We seek to discuss the possibility of renaming the \\\"Republic of Telamon\\\" to the \\\"Commonwealth of Telamon\\\". We believe that as our nations true heritage lies in that name it would be a good move to revert to old traditions. Furthermore, we would like to rename the HoS to Chancellor to keep with the new name.

Thoughts?

If this is passed, the new name of Telamon shall be \"Commonwealth of Telamon\"

MessageWe cannot and will not support this. Telamon is a republic operating under a representative government in the form of Parliament. We see no reason to change this.

MessageRepresentative Democracy is not solely available through a Republic. With a Commonwealth we can see have our functioning democracy with the tradition on the side.

MessageJust to make it clear. Telamon was a Commonwealth for its first 400 years of existence, and we believe we should return to our true roots.

MessageOOC: A Chancellor is a position for Head of Government, not Head of State. In Germany, the Chancellor is in the same place as a Prime Minister, while they also have a President.

MessageGuess is should have made these separate. I\'ll propose another just for the Commonwealth.

And what does it matter if some make believe country in some fictitious planet used the word \"Chancellor\" different to us. We are from Telamon, and we are always right!
