Message | Since secondary strike action is rightfully illegal, but it also means that members in Kuratha might note care enough to vote if the factory in question is situated in Hulstria. This new measure means that not all members must vote to allow a strike, so the Kurathan members of a trade union aren\'t required to vote over a Hulstrian issue for it to pass, but if they feel strongly against it, can vote no and have their votes count. |
Date | 08:32:05, November 17, 2008 CET | From | Liberaldemokratische Allianz | To | Debating the Trade Union Strike Act |
Message | And by requiring only a majority of members voting it opens up the potential for union leaders to abuse their power. A majority of workers may be against a strike action but the union leaders, and a core group of activists, could hold a ballot in the middle of the night. There is no accountability in this proposed change. If the HLP is concerned about union members in different Crownlands not sharing the same views and opinions of workers in other Crownlands, then perhaps it should be focused on the creation of new unions. If workers are better served by Trade Unions created in each and every crownland, then perhaps that is the best way to ensure democracy in the workplace and the dignity of work. |

Message | There are numerous trade unions, but the HLP is indicating towards the national Trade Unions, not local. May the HLP remind, the liberal national coalition made it legal for employers to fire workers for striking without reason, so claiming that union leaders can abuse power is absurd, a union leader won\'t remain leader if most of the union is out of work. |
