Bill: Education and Home-Schooling Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Dranland First Party (CC)
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: December 2670
Description[?]:
We propose various reforms to the organization of our education system: Article 1) The One Nation Party believes that some level of education is important for everyone - this is simply common sense. Education is crucial for an informed populace, and for the chances of anyone in the work-force. As such, we propose that a basic education be made mandatory, but also that the option of home-schooling be made available for families who do not wish for their children to attend schools, whether for reasons of money, religious views, location, or any others. Article 2) We do not believe that private institutions should be regulated to meet a national curriculum - this uniformity would allow government bias in teaching material and is unnecessary. We propose, therefore, that private universities regulate themselves to provide diversity of material and to prevent a government monopoly of opinion in education. Article 3) We do not believe that education is a matter for the federal government. We propose that authority over the education system be devolved to local governments, in order to allow schools to be more responsive to, and representative of, the needs of each local community, based on their contingent and varying requirements. |
