Bill: Age of Responsibility Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: League of Christian Socialists
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 2674
Description[?]:
16 is a reasonable age to set as the age of maturity. Adulthood should be determined by age, not by an arbitrary test. And while we're at it, 17 and 18 year olds should not be forced to study courses they aren't committed to when they could be gaining experience working or doing voluntary work instead. |

Message | We oppose article 3, however we will support the rest of the bill. |
Date | 21:15:40, November 30, 2008 CET | From | Secular Imperialist Party | To | Debating the Age of Responsibility Act |
Message | The article of education making education compulsery to 18 was an SIP initiative, just because the LCS does not consider knowledge a high priority does not mean the SIP will support the final nail in the coffin of the tripartite act. |
Date | 01:20:59, December 01, 2008 CET | From | League of Christian Socialists | To | Debating the Age of Responsibility Act |
Message | We consider the pursuit of knowledge to be important and admirable. What we are opposed to is compelling bored 16 and 17 year olds to remain in the classroom when they are not motivated to study, and are likely to damage the education of their fellow students through having a bad attitude. |
Date | 01:15:52, December 02, 2008 CET | From | Secular Imperialist Party | To | Debating the Age of Responsibility Act |
Message | Well if the LCS would glance at the tripartite act, at 15 students are specialised into different schools maximising potential, in technical, academic or arts subjects. |
