Declaration of the People's Rights

Preamble:

We, the government of the Free Republic of Lourenne, do hereby declare that the citizens of Lourenne have certain inalienable rights that no government, present or future, may take away. These rights are part of the fundamental nature of man, and thus we pledge to protect them.

Resolved that the preceding articles, containing the rights of the people, be ratified by the Senate of the Free Republic of Lourenne.

Article 1:

The government shall make no laws or decisions that prevent the people from exercising the freedoms of speech, press, petition, and assembly. However, the government may regulate profanity, libel, and slander.

Article 2:

The people may practice any religion they so choose, and religion shall have no influence over the government.

Article 3:

The people may engage in whatever sexuality they are, and practice whatever sexual behaviors they wish as long as it is between consenting adults and no harm comes to either of them.

Article 4:

The government may not take away a persons life, liberty, privacy, or interfere with their pursuit of happiness without following due process of the law. Furthermore, the government may not take away a persons property for public use without reasonable payment.

Article 5:

All rights not forbidden to the people, whether by law or resolution, are given to them.

MessageThis is a resolution, and while not it does not change any laws, we feel that we should make a declaration of the rights of the citizens of Lourenne, so the government will not abuse the people.
