Bill: Minor Employment Act

Details

Submitted by[?]: Left Leaning Libertarian Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 2678

Description[?]:

Whilst it is our party's belief that unsafe, exploitative child labor is wrong and should be prosecuted, we believe that those whom are still minors in the eyes of the law should have the ability to seek part time work. A part time job in addition to an educational pursuit will create a more well rounded individual and will teach valuable life skills such as money management, punctuality and responsibility. Minors seeking employment will, in addition to standard labor laws applicable to adults, have the following stipulations:

I. No minor under the age of 12 may seek employment
II. Minors seeking employment will not be allowed to work for more than:
a. (Age 12): 5 hours a week
b. (Age 13 to Age of Adulthood): 10 hours a week
III. Minors will not be allowed to work for longer than:
a. (Age 12): 2 hour shifts
b. (Age 13 to Age of Adulthood) 4 hour shifts
IV. Minors will not be employed after:
a. (Age 12): 8:00 P.M.
b. (Age 13 to Age of Adulthood) 10:00 P.M.
V. Minors will not be allowed to work during school hours
VI. Minors will not be allowed to work with dangerous tools and machines. This includes but is not limited to: Power tools, Dangerous Machinery, Vehicles, Knives
VII. Minors will not be allowed to work in a dangerous environment. This includes but is not limited to:
Areas where hazardous materials are handled, Areas where sensory damage will occur, Factories
VIII. Resonable accomodations for school work shall be provided for minors by employers

It is up to the discretion of the employer to hire minors.
