Bill: The National Religion

Details

Submitted by[?]: Industrialist Party of Aloria

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2685

Description[?]:

The national religion of Aloria shall hereforth be the religion of the plurarity of Alorians, the Alorian Christian Church.

OOC: This bill will also solidify the mechanics of the church:
The Alorian Christian Church is run by a group of nine ministers known as the Doctrinal Council and a leader known as the Christian Archbishop(OOC: This Archbishop was already in the Wiki as a leader). The Alorian Christian Church is generally considered Protestant, but has elements of Catholic doctrine in it too. It is followed by around half of Alorian Christians.

These are the statisitics of Alorian religions, in game they will be considered that which the government has compiled throught voluntary census and private sources:

45% of Alorians are Alorian Christian
15% of Alorians are Lutheran/Protestant
12% of Alorians are Bogists
10% of Alorians are Terran/Selucian/Other Catholic
8% are Jewish
6% are Islamic
4% are Other

MessageI view Aloria as way more monolithic in its religions, I would have put about at least half the population as Alorian Christian, then about 30% some sort of catholic, (Terra has several, I believe, does anyone know which one is most prominent?) Then about 10% Bogist (its was completely out of thin air made up by the DR ,but it makes a good native tradition, and its established we have a sizable indeginous population) then the rest Jewish/Hindu/ Muslim/ Buddhist/ without a religion.

But I do think we need to establish the mechanics of how the church works. Who gets to control it in RP? Or are the nine ministers mean to give each of us a share of control? I like this idea. OR maybe we could just give the church to the party with the most religious followers (fanaical religious % times number of total people voting for the party) in this case probably the NP.

MessageThere are the two big Catholic Churches, the Selucian Catholic and Terran Catholic. View Selucian Catholic as what would happen if a Catholic Church had of been established somewhere else(ala Terran Catholicism) and then the Roman Catholic Church was formed later and tried to take control.

Except I have no idea if it happened that way in game, but nonetheless there are a bunch of Catholic sects with Terran Catholicism being most prominent. Protestantism is more unified with people generally falling under the overreaching hand of Lutheranism(what the Rockyfellers converted to after marrying with Trigunians related to the Hulstrian royal family. Joe F. Rockyfeller II is married to the neice of Heinrich I the Emperor of Hulstria).

I always viewed aloria as about half of the Christians(still would be the largest religious sect) as a native Alorian brand with the other half being split between the Catholics and Lutherans.

MessageWell, how'd about half Alorian Christian, 15% Terran Catholic, 5% Selucian Catholic, 10% Lutheran, 10% Bogist and 10% Jewish/Muslim/Hindu/ non-religious/ Buddhist.

Can the bill be so amended?

MessageWell my party is against having a state religion, so I'll leave this OOC discussion to you guys. However, I do hope that the national religion you choose is not a creation from out of nowhere.

I'll make it more similar to it, but it might not be exact.

MessageAloria is pretty religiously diverse compared to a lot of countries, so I'm wary to downplay things like Judaism and Islam who have had a strong prescence in Aloria for a while, or have been seen as that. Aloria is pretty diverse.

MessageMAde changes, I think they fit better and fashion Aloria s a diverse place mainly dominated by Christians, but with large fragments of other religions.

Like a religious melting pot.

MessageHmm... I didn't quiet study the religions in Terra, but indeed it's very diverse. I think Alorian Christian would be good, most people in Terra have Lutheranian faith (from Luthori, but also from Hulstria). Maybe intresting part of role-playing, to get some information about our first settlers and later immigrants, who brought those religions to our country.

And for the Bogists, this is the religion of our Native-Alorians (the indians).

May I note that a lot of countries have their own church, but within the same faith (like in real life, England is christian, but has an own church).

But let s continue the discussion....

Messagebtw, Ultran (let's say 'our' province, with the most of our supporters) is completely christian, and when I made up the wiki-page of Ultran months ago, I took the strong religious-conservative midwestern states of the USA as example...

MessageI like the idea of a large atheist/agnostic/nudecided population. 4% is a pretty sizeable amount compared to what was there, so it's cool. I tihnk I will put it up to a vote.
