Message | "Clean and Safe" Energy Act, it appears that the green party have invented a power supply with which they can power the whole economy with and which is entirely clean and produces massive amounts of energy. If you think you can run the entire country on renewable sources alone you are sadly mistaken, they would produce no where near enough energy for a growing economy such as ours. I would also like to say that these nuclear power plants you wish to ban would also include fusion plants, which are a near unlimited source of energy and produce very little waste, so this bill appears to me to have very small reason for existing. |

Message | Nuclear fission is not safe nor clean. What the Green party proposes is the ban on the development of new nuclear power stations. We would support the maintenance of existing ones, alongside progressive development of renewable power stations, such as wind and solar. As to nuclear fusion, it is might indeed be near unlimited and produces very little waste, but there are also safety concerns, as re-creating the formation of the sun can logically cause a huge and possibly fatal explosion. Furthermore, the use of nuclear power, both fission and fusion, will only cater to the increasingly consumerist nature of the society. Your claim that renewable energy is insufficient is only true in the consumerist context of todays society. 'Insufficient' renewable energy will force us to change our lifestyles to be more considerate of the fact that humankind cannot live without nature, whilst nature can live without us. |
