Bill: Budget proposal of March 2695
Details
Submitted by[?]: Constitutionalist Imperial League (IA)
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This bill proposes to change the allocation of funds in the budget. It requires more than half of the legislature to vote yes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: April 2697
Description[?]:
The Empire has a large budget surplus. This budget shows a substantial increase in the defense budget, as it is needed to reflect the larger quantity of the Empire's overseas holdings and to maintain Terra's best navy. The education and culture budget has been cut to reflect recent privatizations of higher education. The environment and touris budget has been cut to reflect recent environmental deregulations and the industry budget has been cut to reflect the lessening of the government's role in economic regulations. Finaly, we propose to cut the largely useless corporate tax, which brings in only 3.8 bn LPD every year and is largely unnecessary. |

Message | While I believe it is good that we are increasing our Military Budget, Luthori's currency makes it the 2nd/3rd wealthiest nation in Terra. We should not be cutting; we should be spending that money. Even if the schools have been cut, we should be still increasing the money so that they all get well supplied. Not everyone in our nation can afford to have a private education, so we must continue to spend on them with the best education that is possible. Furthermore, we must not back down on our environment; we must protect it at all cost. One of the wonders of Luthori and its main domains is its vast and beautiful environment. Lastly, Industry can never have enough money to grow. The more they have, the more they can use to build better and more productive items, and give our workers plenty of money, so that they can spend it and live healthy and pleasant lives. |

Message | Well, I believe that this is a job for our Minister of Finance, old chap. |

Message | Yet maybe it is time we included the others in a Cabinet. |
Date | 02:04:22, January 13, 2009 CET | From | Luthori Spiritual Secularist Society | To | Debating the Budget proposal of March 2695 |
Message | Mr. Speaker, The Society would prefer massive across the boards budget cuts in order to limit the governments ability to interfere in matters the nation in which it has no business dealing with. Cutting corporate taxes is a step in the right direction and we will support this. I yield |

Message | Cutting corporate taxes is unacceptable. |
Date | 07:00:37, January 13, 2009 CET | From | Constitutionalist Imperial League (IA) | To | Debating the Budget proposal of March 2695 |
Message | OOC: Is it traditional for budgets to be proposed only by the finance minister in Luthori, if so I appologize and will leave that to him. IC: Spending increases inflation, which is in turn disastrous for our economy, we believe the only area of our government which should have high spending is the defense budget. Industry should not receive government money. Industry, in order to be checked, must be allowed to be competitive, otherwise, there is no guarantee of quality for consumers. We ask the RAP and the Secularist Society wether they would support this budget in its current form. If not, we would be willing to repropose a budget with only the increases in the defense budget. |

Message | The tax cut allows the Society to support this budget. |
Date | 13:05:13, January 13, 2009 CET | From | Honesty, Legacy and Equality | To | Debating the Budget proposal of March 2695 |
Message | We also believe that the cuts in theo ther sectors of the economy are unacceptable. |
Date | 16:03:31, January 13, 2009 CET | From | Constitutionalist Imperial League (IA) | To | Debating the Budget proposal of March 2695 |
Message | We thank both the Society for their support and the Honesty, Legacy and Equality party for their opinions, we will await that of the RAP until we take this budget to vote. |
Date | 20:46:13, January 13, 2009 CET | From | Imperial Conservative Union (IA) | To | Debating the Budget proposal of March 2695 |
Message | OOC: I am pretty sure it has to be the FM to propose it. The RAP has stood by that since I have been here, yet we have only changed the budget once also. IC: However, because we are running an ever growing Empire, we must not back down on other parts of our economy, such as education. You can never pay to much to the future. |
Date | 22:52:10, January 13, 2009 CET | From | Constitutionalist Imperial League (IA) | To | Debating the Budget proposal of March 2695 |
Message | OOC: Well technicaly, any party can propose a budget, but if that's the way it has been done in Luthori, I have no problem. |
Date | 01:18:51, January 14, 2009 CET | From | Imperial Conservative Union (IA) | To | Debating the Budget proposal of March 2695 |
Message | OOC: Tax cuts are fine, but I do think budget is FM, either way I don't mind people doing it. You can RP it as a Vice Finance Minister, like I did in Alduria with a Vice Foreign Minister. |

Message | OOC: Great RAP, thanks a lot, I am sorry, in my old nation Mordusia, anyone could propose a budget, I didnt know this was traditionaly reserved to the finance minister in Luthori :) IC: We thank the RAP and the LSSS for their proposal and will move to vote. |
