Bill: Discussion: Term length

Details

Submitted by[?]: Democrats of Darnussia

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill asks for an amendement to the Constitution. It will require two-thirds of the legislature to vote in favor. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: December 2697

Description[?]:

I was thinking, and shouldn't a term of 60 months, or exactly 5 years, be better then our current of 65? this would mean that elections would be held in December every fifth year, 2700, 2705, 2710 etc. instead of moving as it does now.

MessageAlternatively, we could change the term so that we get the next election 2705 on a month we choose, then we change to exactly five years

MessageHaving an "odd" term length helps prevent us from being in an election bottleneck for too long. When the game has too many countries having elections all at the same time, it glitches up.

Messagecould that not being changed, if we choose a month were there are not much elections. The next elections are December 2700, we are the only country having elections then. So if we would have elections every 5 years, that means December 2705, 2710, etc.. How would things glitch up?

MessageI agree, I don't think that many nations have elections in December, so that way we can have regular years without locking up the game.

MessageI'm willing to go with the majority - this isn't a partisan or ideological issue in any way, after all. I'm just explaining my reasons for the preference I have. If the three of you are in agreement, go ahead and send it to a vote, and I'll make it unanimous.

Random fact: Cultural Protocol bills must provide a real-life equivalent or short description for the ethnic groups, languages and religions contained in them, such that it would be easy for an unfamiliar player to understand (e.g. "Dundorfian = German"). Where appropriate, they should also provide guidance to players on where to find help with translations and character names. This might include, for example, links to Google Translate, Behind the Name's Random Name Generator and Fantasy Name Generators.
