Bill: Proposal for Economic Flexibility
Details
Submitted by[?]: Front for State Prosperity
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: July 2124
Description[?]:
Economic flexibility and a market that is well educated and capable of adapting to global conditions is a precondition to growth in the interconnected modern environment. Tariffs are against this ideal. Except in the case of overt fraud, trades are positive sum transactions. One person wants an item and is willing so much for it, another wants to sell it, and is willing to give a certain amount for it. We should not hinder this transaction anymore than strictly necessary. Therefore, I am proposing a reciprocal tariff agreement. We shall not hinder trade between our citizens and citizens of other countries any more than those other countries deem fit to do to us. |
Proposals
Article 1
Proposal[?] to change International trade (this is a default in the absense of a specific free trade agreement or specific trade embargo)
Old value:: The nation allows for imports, but imposes tariffs and quotas in certain areas.
Current: The nation allows for imports, but imposes "ethical" tariffs on nations with lower environmental and labour rights standards.
Proposed: The nation imposes reciprocal tariffs on imports, with no tariffs imposed on states which impose no tariffs on our exports.
