Message | Article 1: No need to complicate. they register and it will be enough. surely the ministry of foreign affairs can deal with them. Article 2: In a secular nation, there is no reason to give religion a special status. they make money just like companies, maybe even more. donations howeer, should be overlooked, obviously. Article 3: Again, it's a secular nation with no official religion, and public officials should dress accordingly. any comments? |

Message | We agree with Article 2 and 3 but they have already been proposed in the Omnibus Bill about to get passed, so there's no need to re-introduce them. As far as Article 1 goes, we believe that authorization and security checks prior to the missionary is more beneficial for our national security. |

Message | my bad on 2 and 3. on 1, though... why would you only do that to missionaries? why not for everyone? of course, then you'd be regulating too much, and the whole country would be like Area 51. the ministry of foreign affairs can have their security checks and authorize them or not based on what they find out. |

Message | There are some missionaries that are considered radical or fanatics and they promote violence. We wouldn't want them to come to our country, correct? |

Message | of course, and the ministry of foreign affairs can deal with them. there's also non-missionaries who we don't want around here, but that doesn't mean we should make this universal for everyone. |

Message | If they present no threat to our nations, they will be allowed to enter the country with no problem whatsoever. |

Message | yes, but what's the point of having this check before they come here? why do they have this obligation and other foreigners don't? this is just discriminating. |
Date | 20:41:22, January 27, 2009 CET | From | The Liberal Party | To | Debating the APL Religious reforms |
Message | Other foreigner that want to come to this country to work or do something other than visit have to obtain a visa. We even allow missionaries not to obtain a visa but their application is reviewed for possible threats to our nation. |

Message | that's the point, they're being discriminated against just because they're religious. |

Message | There is no such thing as discrimination when the security of our people is at risk. |
