Message | The current position means that the more vital your job is the less rights you have, that is fundamentally unjust |

Message | However the current position means that those of high-power jobs who go on strikes have to have a minimal service. What would we do if all the teachers in one school went on strike? Shut down the school? What happened if people in the cabinet went on strike? Who takes over for them? I won't vote untill that issue is adressed. |

Message | Well yes the school would shut down, why should workers have less freedom to fight for better conditions just because the government considers their job to be of special importance |

Message | You are right Workers should not have less freedom because the Government requires that their job be of special performance. But someone has to be able to take over immedtily if they go on strike. Can we risk a school shutting down because of a strike? Hospitals is a perfect example you can not risk a group of nurses, doctors, or anyone going on strike at one of them. I still do not support this bill, unless there are people who can immedtily step in for those who we need on the job. If they don't have enough people on call to step in we are left at a bad angle. Yes, it might seam their freedoms are being limted but, untill a system for workers on strike is brought to the National Congress (that will work) than this needs not to be passed. |

Message | Hospital workers, fire fighters etc. are in my experience highly committed people who will not go on strike lightly. It is very unlikely that a whole hospital, for instance, would ever be closed by strike action. We should not exploit people's admirable vocation to do caring or life saving jobs in order enact undemocratic restrictions on their rights as workers. |

Message | However if a group of nurses even five go off to strike than we are not sure if we have the people to call in. I have said before and will state again I will re-consider my stance and vote on this if a new bill is brought forth to answer our questions and a compromise is reached. Remember right now it's they only have to do a minimal amount of service that could be five hours, or 3 work days in a week. I don't think the law specifies that. |
