MessageSince when do religion and the state mix? If a religion wants to only let straight couples adopt, fine, but the option should be there for those who are adopting from state orphanages.

MessageOur country's motto is "United in Freedom" or had you all forgotten? Should everyone be free to adopt a child or only those that follow all the rules of a specific religion? Perhaps just those of a certain race? How about just people who are divorced? Doesn't that sound fair and free? No? Well, neither does blocking someone from adoption just because they fall in love with people of their own gender.

MessageApparently, someone here doesn't recognize the fact that we are a moral and a religious nation. Because of this, we will go with them. We oppose this bill.

MessageI wouldn't. I'm just going by public opinion polls. We are a moral nation that doesn't support homosexuality.

MessageIf every politician went by every public opinion poll alone, civil rights movements would never work. They're always started by minority groups. Eventually outsiders take an interest, but for the most part, the majority opposes giving rights to the minority because they feel superior by having more rights than other people. When the minorities get rights, a few people bitch and moan, but then the people who aren't minorities realize it hasn't hurt them to let other people be equal to them. The minorities get very happy and suddenly the whole minority group is voting for you along with all the people who realized "hey, this isn't fair" and the ones that went "well it didn't hurt anything..."

MessageIf 51% of a nation doesn't like the idea of something, it doesn't mean the other 49% should be banned from it. That is not democracy.

It is the responsibility of governments to protect the rights of minorities as well as majorities.

And in this particular case, where there is a shortage of partents, we have an even more compelling duty to some of the most vulnerable children in Tukarali not to ban willing, responsible parents (in potentia) from being able to take care fo them.
