Details

Submitted by[?]: Quanzari Socialist Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: September 2714

Description[?]:

It is oppressive and degrading to force our children to sing the national anthem at the beginning of every school day, and to sing it so often removes any significance it might have were it to be reserved for experiences that are somewhat less mundane.

MessageHate it? Hardly. How can you hate something that is such a superficial and obvious construct of a tradition of oppression that has lasted for millenia? At any rate, imagine what resentment and flippancy our young ones must foster in their hearts, when at the start of every school day they must sing their anthem. For 12 years straight, the anthem every single school day. The young among them cannot even know what they are singing, and certainly after five years of it, let alone twelve, they must not think much of the song.

MessageMillenia? Methinks you should read a history book or two. Our new generations must be taught civics and appreciation for the Lordships and Monarchhy, for the ideal and reality that is our Royal Union.

MessageOppression has existed in other places before it existed here. What use is a three-verse song in giving our children some sort of education in civics? Subservience to the monarchy it provides for, but is unquestioning obedience what we want in our next generation? How will Quanzar ever be a truly innovative power without a tradition of fostering critical thinking (and criticism of the government, no matter its leanings)?

MessageThe King rules by divine right. One cannot go against the will of God. Within the framework of protection, subjects of the crown enjoy freedom and plenty. They are not at all subject to Oppression and the Tyranny of the Mob or Low Men.

MessageDivine right? Within the framework of protection the subjects enjoy freedom and plenty? You nationalists are of the mistaken and outdated impression that a ruler's right to rule derives from a higher source and that the ruled have obligations to their ruler. On the contrary, a ruler's right to rule derives from the people, and should the people wish it their ruler should step down, lest he be overthrown and lose his life.

MessageHow did you liberals determine this "popular sovereignty?" Was it written somewhere in the universe, was it determined by science? No. It is merely the crazed shouting of the unwashed masses, whose insufferable greed has driven them to demand the keys to the kingdom. Divine right derives from the dictates of God, from the natural hierarchy that pervades this universe, not from the blather of dirty peasants and the petty bourgeois.

MessageThe liberals and their bourgeois patrons can die in a fire unnoticed by the fire department their crusade for privatization has gutted. As for your divine right, we shall see how it gets along when the people realize the sham of their religion.
