Bill: Anti-Discrimination Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Totalitarian Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 2125
Description[?]:
Presently, the government does not regulate hiring policies. The Totalitarian Party realises the futility of banning the practice. It is difficult to ensure companies are not discriminating against our nation's citizens. However, we feel the government must set an example for the rest of the nation. To this end, we propose the government formally ban positive discrimination in its hiring policies. Positive discrimination will also be banned for private companies, but the government will not actively seek out offenders. If a complaint is received, the government will investigate, and, if necessary, fine the offending the company. |

Message | Against? You oppose the government adopting fair hiring policies? This will barely affect private businesses, as it will not be enforced, unless a citizen complains. |

Message | A business should be able to hire whomever it wants for whatever reasons it wants. While we personally feel it is wrong to discriminate, it would be hypocritical of us to force our morals on others. |

Message | OK, I am unsure about this, does this extend to private businesses, or are we simply referring to government hiring practices? |

Message | I think the actual law covers both government and private hiring policies. I've defined it in the bill description slightly better. |
