Voting deadline: October 2125
Description[?]:
In order to guarantee that there is always a minimum amount of basic food and that said food is produced and sold to the consumer at a price that is not overly extortionate, the Government will own and operate State farms to produce strategic crops (designated below). All other produce can, and will, be produced by Private farmers on their own land and will have no outside interference in what food is produced as long as the standards of said production is of acceptable standards in both cleanliness of operations and safety of staff and livestock. Crops deemed strategic; 1. Wheat used for the production of a single type of brown wholemeal bread. 2. Dairy used to produce milk and cheese (both cheese and milk production will also allow competitive Private companies as well, should they wish to become involved, however a basic type of cheese and a standard full cream pasturised milk will be produced in order to guarantee the affordability of these basic foodstuffs). In order to increase food production, on both National and Private farms, and to encourage growth in the industry, all limitations on the size of farms will be removed, so long as there is no significant harm to the local environment or wildlife. |

Message | Nay to one, aye to two. Even though I disagree with the current law reagrding the first proposal, I am also inclined to disagree with any state owned farms and would prefer to see no government owned farms. The second proposal is good. |

Message | Government owned farms produce basic breads, milk and cheese (as outlined above) to provide the needs of the people. Everything, and I do mean everything, else is provided by the private sector. If people don't like full cream milk, they go private. Of they want meat, of any description, private. Different cheeses, or even non-wholemeal bread, private. This bill provides the best of both systems whilst guaranteeing that basic foodstuffs are avaliable at an affordable price. |
