Bill: The Rutania First Act - No. 2
Details
Submitted by[?]: Rutanian Heritage Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 2719
Description[?]:
The 'Rutanian Heritage Party' proposes this new comprehensive tariff and investment reform legislation, in the interests of protecting our domestic industries and job-markets from the destructive forces of international vulture capitalism, allowing them the freedom to prosper. Under the free-trade agreements that Rutania was previously a party to - but which have now thankfully been repealed - our domestic businesses and jobs were being sacrificed by the very government which is supposed to be responsible to their interests, for the sake of relative economic gains, and to appease other nations. In addition, foreign corporations were given free reign, able to invest freely in our national businesses and gain a majority share, at great cost to our autonomy. We should not pander to other nations at the expense of our own citizens, and we should not restrict our own national sovereignty for such ends. The 'Rutanian Heritage Party' will make no such sacrifice - this legislation will secure our domestic job-markets and industries and give them the chance to flourish. |

These messages have been posted to debate on this bill:

Message | The REP believes in free trade and considers it as a basis of other liberties. The protectionist measures proposed by the RHP would do more harm than benefit to our economy. With the decrease of import the living standards of the population would drop which would have severe effects. In the spirit of the Classical Liberal Coalition for Rutania, we oppose this bill.
