MessageThe current number puts around 445,000 people represented per MP, whilst reducing the size of the House to 299 would make the representation rate to 1.1 million people per MP.

Whilst on the one hand the Green Party supports greater representation in direct democracy, we also realise that the House of Commons at present has too many members, thus making debates ineffective and procedures time consuming. The Green Party will be abstaining on this bill, but will give our support if the reduction is not so drastic, perhaps to around 500-600 MPs.
