ToDebating the Abortion Act 3
MessageA piece of protoplasm has no rights. Just because an embryo could "potentially" become a human being does not necessarily make it one. We cannot equate the "potential" with the "actual"; to do so would be irrational, irresponsible and, above all, a blatant disregard of the undeniable fact that an "actual" human has the right to lead his/her life. To those who believe that procreation is a "duty", we have just one thing to say. Humans are not stock-farm animals. For the rational person, an unwanted pregnancy is a disaster, and to oppose it's termination is forcing sacrifice upon that person. The task of raising a child is a tremendous responsibility, and it would be highly irresponsible for an unwitting and unwilling person to be forced into such a position. To restate my argument, to oppose abortion is to advocate sacrifice, not for the sake of anyone's benefit, but for the sake of misery qua misery, but for the sake of forbidding happiness and fulfillment for living human beings.

Thus, we vote NO on this proposition.
