Message | We don't agree with article 1, as we have always said we believe that competition is good in this area of business which is why we believe private defence companies should exist, obviously we believe that there should be regulations on arms deals etc. Article 2 sounds ok. Article 3 is in our opinion a better law than we currently have, we have always supported military national service but we are beginning to understand that it is unfair to force everybody to partake in something which may not be in line with their conscience. Article 4 we agree with, we believe that this nation should have a nuclear capability to act as a deterrant. We do not agree with article 5, we believe that all prisoners of war should be treated fairly until their date of release or charge. Overall we probably wouldn't vote for this law, mainly because of the first and last articles |

Message | We oppose the nuclear armament option. We oppose the military service option. We like the defence industry proposal, and wish it had been presented on it's own. We oppose the POW option. We support the intent of the landmine article, but feel it doesn't go far enough. On balance, we are going to have to hold back on supporting. There are issues here we could have voted for, but they are outnumbered by issues we must oppose. |
