Message | FRP, what about escalation? I'm not opposed to officer's having access to military hardware, but if it's standard issue, we might as well GIVE it to the bad guys! Help me out here. |

Message | (there is no in between, I cannot give Police military hardware any other way) Police Officers must have access to miliary weoponry. highly lethal weopons are available via the black market to criminals, police officers must be able to adequately respond. |

Message | The DLU understand the need for arming police officers, but feel since the police set an example they should not carry firearms as a matter of course. We do agree that specially trained officers should carry firearms and have access to more specialised weaponry and military support if necessary. Co-ordination of these firearms must be strictly controlled and information between the various agencies appropriately scaled to ensure the correct weapons are used for the situation at hand. We of course remain open to be convinced otherwise if our parliamentary partners would like to present some further arguments. |
Date | 03:44:37, October 18, 2005 CET | From | Jakanian Conservative Party | To | Debating the Police Strengthening Act of 2125 |
Message | (There is no option of having special units with high powered arms, yet unarmed regular officers, also, in my opinion, having unarmed officers sets them in a very dangerous situation if they are forced to respond quickly to crimes.) |
Date | 17:04:21, October 18, 2005 CET | From | Democratic Labour Union | To | Debating the Police Strengthening Act of 2125 |
Message | Apologies we did not make our position adequately clear previously. We are not suggesting Police officers should not carry any weapons at all, but ordinary officers carry non-lethal weapons. Thus the option we would welcome is thus: “Police officers may only carry non-lethal weapons apart from specially trained firearms units” |
