Bill: The Protection of Human Life Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Rutanian Heritage Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: June 2735
Description[?]:
The 'Rutanian Heritage Party' believe in the value of human life, and view abortion as the needless termination of a human life in its early stages of development; an attempt to redefine the point at which a human being becomes a human being by conferring personhood at the time of birth, rather than at conception; an assault on the family; and an excuse for wreckless or promiscuous women to shirk their most natural and fundamental responsibilities. In addition, there are a number of alternatives for women seeking an abortion, such as adoption. As such, the 'RHP' believe that abortion should be made illegal under all circumstances. Similarly, the 'RHP' believe that euthanasia undermines the value and importance of human life through premature termination, and the 'RHP' believe that palliative care is a better alternative, allowing the terminally ill to live out the rest of their lives with dignity, and in comfort. Terminally ill individuals and their loved ones are in no mental or emotional state to be able to make a rational and reasonable decision on whether to terminate the patients life - this is a decision far too enormous and with consequences far too great to be made by anyone in such circumstances. As such, the 'RHP' believe that euthanasia should be made illegal under all circumstances. |

Message | The REP also believes in the supreme value of human life and we also disapprove abortion and euthanasia. However we cannot force our views on every citizen of Rutania. We believe that the freedom of choice must be given to each citizen. We are aware of the fact that most of our voters rejects abortion and euthanasia, but there are people who does not think this way. The state must ensure their freedom as well. Consequently the REP will not support this proposal. Victoria von Bruckenthal, Vice-Chairman, REP |

Message | The OP believe that current policy protects those rights as much as possible while still limiting the amount of people who can get an abortion or have euthanasia performed upon them. The current abortion policy only allows for abortion in the case where the mother's life in is in danger or any other emergency. We also believe that euthanasia is wrong, but if someone believes it is their time to go, then they still have to get consent from a doctor. This prevents just anyone from killing themselves. It is wrong, but as long as the practice does not interfere with the rights of other Rutanians, then we cannot oppose it. -Thomas Wenzeslaus, Speaker, Orange Party |
