Details
Submitted by[?]: Surprise Party
Status[?]: passed
Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 2733
Description[?]:
With the UN Treaty ratified, it is necessary for the nation to appoint a UN Ambassador. By default, appointments are made by either the President, or the Prime Minister. However, it is hereby resolved by this law that the position of UN Ambassador shall be a function of the Foreign Affairs Ministry in perpetuity, and the voting representative of Darnussia on the UN shall be appointed by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, with the President and the Prime Minister having courtesy rights to speak before the UN as alternate delegates ex officio, in the absence of the Ambassador. Pending ratification of this law, President Dogwood names the Honorable Robert English, of the DLP, as temporary Ambassador to the UN. Prime Minister Redwood concurs. |

Message | Essentially, the law will make the UN ambassador permanently part of whatever party controls the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and names the current Minister as temporary Ambassador under the President's powers until this bill is passed. I don't think there's any disagreement that that's where the position should be. It allows the President and/or Prime Minister (which could be of different parties, even though currently they are not) to step in if Foreign Affairs is vacant. |

Message | Sorry, Typo in the law - Robert English is of the DJP, not the DLP. The DLP doesnt currently exist. :-D |

Message | I can endorse this act. Speaking of ministers... it's probably about time our cabinet be reformed somewhat to reflect the new party composition? |
