Bill: DISCUSSION: National Unity Government

Details

Submitted by[?]: Democratic-Unionist Party

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 2745

Description[?]:

Seeing as there is no current widespread support for this type of legislation, I am moving this to a vote for archive it.

The Effect of this legislation shall be null.

While the Democratic-Unionist Party currenty makes up about three-quarters of the legislature we are under no illusion that this dominance will continue. As such, we would like to bring to the floor discussion for the draft of legislation that will lead to a national unity government.

OOC: In essence I am inquiring as to whether any/either/all of you are interested in the adoption of this type of legislation. Legislation that would proportionally allocate cabinet positions based on proportion of seats won in the legislature, a gentlemen's agreement to allocate the cabinet in proportional manner, with certain penalties to be decided for breaking the agreement.

In the mean time, since all seats in the cabinet are currently vacant, or held by parties which have disolved, we have proposed an interim cabinet.

MessageWe support the allocation of seats within a coalition based on its share of seats in relation to the seats held by the governing coalition but do not necessarily support including every party with seats in a coalition.

We consider it best for the democratic process to have both a governing coalition and a robust opposition.

Random fact: Don't vote yes on a cabinet coalition that doesn't give you the power that you deserve.
