MessageWe fear that decriminalisation will lead to abuse. If we reinstate proper controls (as per e.g. previous SDP bills), we can be sure that euthanasia can only occur in cases where the patient is indeed willing.

MessageI think this sends a terrible message. All life is sacred, and should be held equal. If we decriminalize euthansia, doesn't that say that the State feels the life of the old, sick, and handicapped is worth less than others? It's a terrible precedent and I am opposed.

MessageWe agree with the UFT. The lives of the sick are no longer protected, and a strict reading of the bill simply creates a back door for murder. We will support an assisted suicide bill on terms similar to the Assisted Suicide Bill of 2082, included:

"On the submission of a recording of video evidence indicating the patient's explicit desire, as well as written confirmation from at least two qualified doctors that the victim is of sound mind and is suffering from a terminal illness, a judge deeming the evidence sufficient to confirm the patient's reasonably informed decision may permit another doctor to administer a lethal injection to the sufferer. Note that no doctor may be required to do so, nor may a judge or doctor be obliged to give their respective opinion."

MessageWe will not support an assisted suicide bill but we will support this bill because euthanasia is still illegal.

Its illegal. Killing a person (eithanising) is illegal. Why dhouldn't it be considered murder?

This bill brings in a culture of death.
