Message | From Karl Berton Harris, Jr., Member of Parliament: I don't think this changes anything at all, substantially speaking. In the current law, one is given the OPTION to choose military service or civilian service. The proposal simply narrows it down to civilian service. Even if the proposal doesn't pass, civilians will still be forced to do civilian service if they wish to do so. |

Message | Conscription is a good thing. A term in military or civilian national service is also a part of education in people's life. They learn to respect their country, to respect and obey aothority and to have discipline . |

Message | When one considers that tuition fees for higher education in Aloria is funded by the government, it would make perfect sense to have the students perform civilian or military service in return for the free education. Unless if we change the law on tuition fees for higher education, we cannot agree with the proposal at this point. |

Message | I believe the government may encourage it's citizens to join the military/civil service but i believe that is where the government's power should end. In regards to the Centre Democrat's point the LDs believe that although all citizenry should respect their country in a democracy it is a citizens job to question and hold the authorities to account. I am willing to negociate the bill in times of war. In regards to the GPA's point it is important to remember that not just students going into higher education will be drafted and by forcing potential students to work in return for their education that calls into question just how "free" thier education is. I hope this has addressed both the CDs and GPA's worries. |

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass. |
