Description[?]:
Kirlawan cultural census of 2750. Ethnicity: White North Artanian: 56% (-1%) Celtic: 20% (+3%) Dundorfian: 15% (-1%) Istalian: 4% (-1%) Makonian: 1% (nc) (primarily Hutori) Kerissian: 1% (nc) Mixed/Other: 3% (nc) Primary Language: English: 72% (nc) Dundorfian: 11% (-1%) Irish: 7% (+1%) Welsh: 6% (+1%) Italian: 4% (-1%) Religion: Hosians: total 51% (nc) >>> Bishopal: 35% (+2%) >>> Universal: total 15% (-2%) >>> >>> Selucian: 9% (nc) >>> >>> Veritan / Almighty Path: 2% (nc) >>> >>> Other Universal: 4% (-2%) (now includes Terran) >>> Other non-Universal, non-Bishopal Hosian: 1% (nc) Ehudism: 2% (-2%) Daenism: 2% (-1%) Pagan: 8% (+2%) (nature worship, etc.) Other: 2% (-1%) No Religion: 35% (+2%) Terran, having fallen below 1%, has been merged into Other Universal. The first half of the past fifty years had been dominated by the New Englia crisis. Its peaceful resolution in the Treaty of New Indrala http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=243472 has been widely acclaimed. However, some Celtic New Englians had preferred to be governed by only Kirlawa rather than by the four-nation coalition, and therefore have immigrated here. The second half of this period has been quieter than usual in Kirlawa, but religious distinctions are deepening a little. The arrival of the Kirlawan Block (who have subsequently become the Orangeists of the KNP), the nation's first specifically pro-Bishopal major party in centuries, has re-energised the Bishopal community and started to reverse their long decline. In response, secular Kirlawans have reaffirmed their support of the Kirlawan Popular Front, the recently departed Leftist wing of the KNP, and the libertarian parties. ============ Revised 30 April 2012, to comply with the new names for the religions. http://forum.particracy.net/viewtopic.php?p=37476#p37476 "Hosians" = Christians. "Luthorian" = Protestant. (specifically Lutheran, but Kirlawa's Protestantism came from Luthori anyway) "Bishopal" = Catholics (the page says to use "Patriarchal", but I feel that that name very strongly connotes Orthodox, not Catholic.) "Selucian" = Selucian Catholic. "Veritan" = Veritan Catholic. "Terran" = Terran Catholic. "Ehudism" = Judaism. "Deanism" = Buddhism. I am assuming that using the names of Particracy locations (Luthori, Selucia, Veritas, Terra) is still OK. ============ Revised and sent to vote 31 August 2015, for archiving. Fixed the spelling of "Daenism" and of "Kerissian". "Bishopal" now refers to Anglican or Episcopalian, not Catholic; in accordance with http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=346816 I've re-renamed our Catholics to "Universal", to hopefully avoid misunderstandings regarding the term "Bishopal". They're currently (3900) the Aurorian Church, but of course that didn't exist in 2750. |

Random fact: Players consent to the reasonable and predictable consequences of the role-play they consent to. For example, players who role-play their characters as committing criminal offences should expect those characters to experience the predictable judicial consequences of that. |
