Bill: Domestic Pet Registration Act 2127

Details

Submitted by[?]: Totalitarian Party

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: January 2128

Description[?]:

Currently, our nation's citizens are not required to register their pets. Registration has many benefits for pet owners.

A missing animal is more likely to be returned if picked up by the local council.
Revenue raised by registration fees will go towards providing services that help pet owners, such as stray animal collection services, kennels and fenced parks for larger pets to play in.
The government can keep a record of vaccinated animals, allowing them to contact the owners when the animals are due for vaccination.

When an animal is registered, the owner will be provided with a plastic tag displaying the animal's identification number. The owner attaches the tag to the animal's collar. If the animal is picked up by the stray collection service, the ID number will provide the staff with the owner's details, and the animal will be returned. Optionally, pet owners can request a microchip to be implanted in their pet. The process is painless, and the chip is unobtrusive. It allows quick and easy identification of the pet, and it cannot be lost. Owners opting for the microchip will receive a discount to their registration fee.

We believe that all larger animals be registered with the local government. Smaller animals such as fish, mice, insects, etc, are exempt from this regulation.

Random fact: In order for a Cabinet bill to pass, more than half of the legislature must vote for it and all of the parties included in the proposed Cabinet must support it. If your nation has a Head of State who is also the Head of Government, then the party controlling this character must also vote for the bill, since the Head of Government is also a member of the Cabinet. If any of these requirements are not met, the bill will not pass.
