Bill: Marriage and Family Act
Details
Submitted by[?]: Rutanian Heritage Party
Status[?]: defeated
Votes: This is an ordinary bill. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.
Voting deadline: August 2754
Description[?]:
The 'Rutanian Heritage Party' propose a series of reforms to legislation regarding marriage and adoption, to better protect the time-honored and invaluable institution of the family from government elements that seek to undermine and destroy it. It is not the rightful place of the federal government to define marriage - an association that is a product entirely of our civilization's cultural, social and religious heritage - because marriage is not a political issue, least of all a federal issue. For the federal government to intervene and define marriage by its own terms is tantamount to social engineering, turning what is essentially a private component of civil society into a public, governmental matter, for no reason other than to enforce the politically-correct ideology of homosexual equality on a society in which it is not naturally homogenous. Society is not something that can be altered or engineered at will to suit the government's conceptions of what it should be, and any attempt to construct social policy that is not synonymous with society's natural developments and institutions will inevitably fail. Similarly, with regards to adoption, the State should not seek to alter the natural formation of the family - an institution that is deeply embedded in human nature; that forms the bedrock of our civilized society - by allowing those individuals to adopt children who cannot provide them with a normal, natural environment in which they can be allowed a healthy upbringing. The federal government should not seek to re-define the family unit - the most fundamental and important institution in our society. |

Date | 09:51:49, May 09, 2009 CET | From | Rutanian Heritage Party | To | Debating the Marriage and Family Act |
Message | Is the 'OP's support for Articles 1 and 3 enough that they would vote in favour of this legislation, inspite of their opposition to Article 2? |
Date | 10:30:15, May 09, 2009 CET | From | Rutanian Elitist Party | To | Debating the Marriage and Family Act |
Message | Our stance is pretty similar to the one of the OP, and we are not willing to support the bill in the current form. |

Date | 00:45:30, May 10, 2009 CET | From | New Rutanian Liberal Party | To | Debating the Marriage and Family Act |

Date | 09:37:04, May 10, 2009 CET | From | Rutanian Heritage Party | To | Debating the Marriage and Family Act |
Message | We hope that those parties who are opposed to Article 2 can support this legislation overall, considering they support the majority of the Articles within it. We will move this to a vote. |
Date | 18:24:16, May 10, 2009 CET | From | New Rutanian Liberal Party | To | Debating the Marriage and Family Act |
Message | The NRLP can not support if Article 2 remains intact, as we believe in equal rights for all people. It is not right to say homosexual couples can not raise a child. Article 1 and 3 can be supported, but with Article 2 remaining in the proposal, we can not support. |
Date | 04:23:11, May 11, 2009 CET | From | Rutanian Restoration Party | To | Debating the Marriage and Family Act |
Message | We cannot support as long as Article 2 is in there. |

Random fact: Cultural Protocol bills must provide a real-life equivalent or short description for the ethnic groups, languages and religions contained in them, such that it would be easy for an unfamiliar player to understand (e.g. "Dundorfian = German"). Where appropriate, they should also provide guidance to players on where to find help with translations and character names. This might include, for example, links to Google Translate, Behind the Name's Random Name Generator and Fantasy Name Generators. |
