Bill: Code of Address

Details

Submitted by[?]: Constitutionalist Imperial League (IA)

Status[?]: passed

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: July 3969

Description[?]:

Gentlemen,

Tradition is the backbone of Luthori might and society. The heritage of our fathers strengthens us everyday. In this very hall, there are many traditions, which sadly have been swept aside over the last decades. it is my will to reinstaure them, and this starts with a clear code of adress and debate within these walls:

-All speakers shall start their speech with "Mr Speaker",
-All speakers shall end their speech with "I yield",
-All speakers shall debate with the upmost courtesy,
-All speakers shall address aristocrats and dignitaries with the appropriate titles,
-All members of the Imperial Parliament will be adressed at the third person as "The Right Honourable" (The Rt Hon),
-All members of the Imperial Supreme Court will be adressed at the third person as "His/Her Lordship/Ladyship".

Following these simple rules will help strengthen Luthori values and facilitate debate. Failure to abide will result with being denied speech by the Imperial Seal-Bearer.

Ladies and gentlemen, thank you,

Emperor Maximilian III

MessageMr. Speaker,

While now of long-standing, this protocol we of the Luthori Tory Party find of ungainly abruptness and brevity, and thus propose a return to that which anciently was used, and from which our present form is derived. To this end, it is my duty to propose two amendments to this Code:

-That, in accordance with most ancient courtesy and good form, all speakers shall end their speech with the more correct form, that is, "I yield the floor";
-That when his Imperial Majesty should sit in place of the most honourable Speaker, his Imperial Majesty ought to be addressed accordingly.

I yield the floor.
-The Rt Hon Richard Scrope, Earl of Tinako

MessageMr Speaker,

While we thank the honourable delegates from the Tory Party for their proposals, we would like to ask the Tories to point out where in Imperial Law or Constitution is the provision that His Majesty should sit in the place of the Speaker. We believe even that possibility to be covered by the section: "-All speakers shall address aristocrats and dignitaries with the appropriate titles,".

In addition, we do not see the need of modifying the current protocol for ending a speech. However, both forms should be allowed.

I yield.

-The Rt Hon. Lord John Rannigan, Imperial Seal-Bearer

Random fact: It usually takes up to an hour for election results to generate. During this time, the "Next Election" date is put forward a month, which is confusing. Do not worry! In a short time, the election result will generate and the "Next Election" date will then correct itself.
