Message | We vehemently oppose. Our early history is testament to the congestion that occurs if the Head of State's party does not have the support of the majority. The RiP also know their candidates are most often the winners of such elections, and this bill would often give them a veto over the Council, cementing their position in government. <|You know the poll is a known bug, right?|> |

Message | *yes but I don't care! LOL* This isn't a power grab as the representative from the SDP is making it out to believe. It is customary that the party that is at the head of state or government (if hereditary HoS) proposes a cabinet. I see no difference why we should have any ole party propose it. As to your early history, there was no way where you could've formed a cabinet with like minded individuals. Now you can so why shouldn't we award such pleasures? |

Message | "It is customary that the party that is at the head of state or government (if hereditary HoS) proposes a cabinet." It has been custom for almost ninety years for the cabinet to represent the largest group in the parliament, and we have not had a hereditary HoS since the Maayanster regime. The HoG is defined by the cabinet. Perhaps the RiP has been spending too long in other countries "I see no difference why we should have any ole party propose it." If (say) RiP wins a majority in Council but the SDP candidate wins the Chieftainship, Great the SDP could severely compromise the effectiveness of parliament by proposing only cabinets with a disproportionate number of SDP ministers. More realistically, if one bloc has a majority, but the GC is of a different bloc (as per the most recent election), the GC may bloc any attempt to form a cabinet with majority support. "As to your early history, there was no way where you could've formed a cabinet with like minded individuals" Our constitution should not be varied according to circumstantial political expediency! |
