Bill: Minimum Wage

Details

Submitted by[?]: Front for a Solidarian Country

Status[?]: defeated

Votes: This bill is a resolution. It requires more yes votes than no votes. This bill will not pass any sooner than the deadline.

Voting deadline: March 2044

Description[?]:

Seeing that many workers in our nation are not being payed a fair and sufficient wage for their work, and that in many cases our workers have to work under conditions of explotation we demand:
(1) That a minimum wage is enforced in the whole extension of the Beluzian Republic.
(2) The minimum wage will be calculated as the sum of a 'living wage' (the calculated cost of living in a month in Beluzia) + an extra quantity of money based on hourly work.
(3) The calculation of the minimum wage will be in charge of a joint commision half-composed by government representatives and half-composed by members of selected private agencies.

Message($45 US? It's probably not a good idea to start bringing the US into this. If you want to use actual numbers for this sort of thing, it would probably be best to wait until the economy is set up. Until then, we'll just sit around and abstain since this bill will be reset with the elections.)

MessagePlease, if you decide to propose this again after elections, remove all numerical values and make clear that the minimum wage is based on hourly work. If this is done then we will probably vote yes.

MessageI agree that bringing US dollars to the debate was a mistake. We shouldn't talk about numbers until the economy is implemented.

We hope the new proposal, which we think is much better, is acceptable to all.

MessageThough we are glad to see a willingness to compromise, there are two problems with this bill: 1) We wanted the wage itself to be hourly; aka $X per hour, and not a certain amount plus more based on hours worked, and 2) This bill has no proposals.

If this had a proposal we'd vote yes, but since it doesn't we'll wait for you to propose a new bill with a different description and a proposal attached.

Random fact: It is the collective responsibility of the players in a nation to ensure all currently binding RP laws are clearly outlined in an OOC reference bill in the "Bills under debate" section of the nation page. Confusion should not be created by displaying only some of the current RP laws or displaying RP laws which are no longer current.

Random quote: "We have a culture, a strong, vibrant, 'real' culture. Most of the outside world does not. They haven't bled enough for it." - Lászlo Nádašdy, former Deltarian nobleman
