MessageAny thoughts? I think that shorter terms would keep parties engaged in the process. I'll put this to vote in about 12 hours.

MessageLDP of Luthori Secretary to the Imperial Diet, the Rt Hon. Daniel Bowman:

"Mr Speaker,

We do not believe that there is any necessity whatsoever to increase the number of seats from its current status. Increasing bureaucracy does nothing except increase the cost of government and decrease its efficiency. It's counter-productive and something we have no intention of supporting.

Similarly, elections every two years would be an expensive and pointless institution. The current laws have applied for a considerable amount of time and as far as I am aware no problems have arisen from them.

We understand and appreciate the desire for our new colleagues to experience holding seats in the Imperial Diet and we welcome their conscientiousness, however we do not see that as good enough reason to support inefficient and expensive policies as proposed.

Respectfully, I yield the floor."

MessageTheron Epson, Social Democratic Party Candidate for the Ministry of Internal Affairs:

"To the legislature,

In addressing the comments made by Mr. Bowman, we would like to offer some counter-points.

For one, increasing the number of seats will only give the people of these states a larger say in the role of government, thus increasing citizen satisfaction with government. However, we believe that 750 seats may be too large, and therefore change the number in Article 1 to 250.

Secondly, we contend strongly that a shorter period of time between elections will add to the efficiency of government and allow parties in the opposition to get a better feeling for the desires of the public.

At this time, the ADS/SDP has no further comments on this matter."

MessageMore seats allows for better representation. Often parties receive less share of seats than they do of votes.

MessageI will offer my first warning to the RUP. The Code of Address (http://classic.particracy.net/viewbill.php?billid=251468) must be abided by all members of Parliament.

MessageMr. Speaker,

We feel that adding seats can not be done without first amending the budget to account for staffs and added space. Even then, we have tradition that would need strong reason to be amended.

I yield.

MessageMr. Speaker,

By keeping the number of seats in the Diet at 200, we are cheating our People. One legislator represents 2 million people.

Further, this is nothing more than an attempt by the coalition to stay in power and cheat democracy. If they would like to label this as bureaucratic, then they are calling the will of the people bureaucratic. We must show more respect for our People, and their vote.

I yield.

MessageMr Speaker,

We all have diffferent interpretations of what is best for Luthori and we can all debate those interpretations with respect, the Imperial Alliance is not trying to "cheat" anyone. The League believes in a small government and a small bureaucracy, therefore, it will vote nay.

I yield.
