MessageLet's discuss establishing official holidays. I think the least contoroversial would be New Year's Day and Union Day (for the Union of the five Republics.)

Others could be Thanksgiving, Remembrance Day (commemorating nuclear attack on charlesbourg), Labor Day.

MessageOOC: Except for Thanksgiving, they all seem alright to me.

MessageYeh forget Thanksgiving.

I would also have Christmas.

MessageWhy no Thanksgiving?

MessageOOC:
Christmas is a point of contention for me. I thought that real world religions were supposed to not exist in particracy. I understand that this is largely ignored, but I still choose to act as if Christianity does not exist in game and thus Christmas wouldn't exist either.

IC:
I think thanksgiving is a good holiday to have as a sort of harvest festival, but it's not necessary.

MessageOOC: I know that people use them, but I don't think it's proper. I'm just explaining a reason why I won't support Christmas as a holiday.

MessageI agree that we should drop thanksgiving form the list, and keep christmas off it as well.

But support all the others.

MessageOkay, let's debate the dates:
New Year's Day- Jan 1st
Remembrance Day- March 8
Labor Day- 4th Friday in May
Union Day- July 20

Union Day and Remebrance Day should be date specific, but Labor Day could be made into a three day weekend. Holidays are placed every other month with the possibility to add holidays in September and November in the future while still keeping them well spaced.

MessageHow about making election day a national holiday in order to try and promote turnout?

MessageYou could pass a law saying that people should have election day off or should have an opportunity to vote, but since election days change due to early elections, I'm not sure classifying it as a holiday makes sense.

MessageOOC: You guys work out the details of this. I don't have much time to really think about it. I will vote for it as long as Thanksgiving is not included. I don't mind if Christmas is included or not.

MessageI think that the URP's proposed dates are great, I will vote yes to this resolution if they are preserved.

MessageSeeing as Thanksgiving or Christmas was not included, both of my suggestions I will oppose.
