Message | If a person with a terminal disease wants to die, and their doctor approves, there should be no other necessary proceedings. I would greatly appriciate if the NACP would explain why they believe this should be changed. |

Message | We believe that this should be changed because we feel that there must be checks and balances on euthenasia being used improperly and/or encouraged by doctors. Additionally, we feel that there must be assurances that the patient giving consent is, in fact, not suffering from depression or old-age disabilities which would reduce their capacity to make such a final decision (and might arguably make them unduly subject to suggestions of this nature). In short, we are safeguarding peoples' right to life and making sure that this right is not abridged under all but the most extreme circumstances and with the most stringent safeguards. |

Message | We understand the concerns of the NACP and recongnise the need for checks and balances in this matter. However we beleive that checks and balances are already enforced by the medical follow up. The present law is not frivolous and limit euthanasia to those suffering from extreme physical pain. |
