Message | We might want to start talking about international security and human security. Down with national security. |

Message | We agree with the GPA on this issue. With history as a peace-loving nation and one that has not historically accumulated great amounts of dangerous arms, Aldegar should not reconvert itself simply due to the militaristic aims of a nascent party. It would send shockwaves throughout the international community if Aldegar were to change itself, particularly in the area of nuclear development. Perhaps if Aldegar had already been a nuclear power, then keeping nuclear weapons would be justifiable or if Aldegar were at war, then dangerous covert operations could be palatable, but because none of these things are true, we cannot support this bill. We also cannot support the use of landmines which tend to be more dangerous for civilians than military personnel. Not unless Aldegar were some weak third-world nation could we even think of a defence for this as a last resort. |

Message | Furthermore, we refute your idea of security pragmatism at the expense of the moral highground. On the contrary, Aldegar's status as a peace-loving nation is what gives it security. Because there are many other peace-loving nations, these nations are more likely to view Aldegar as similar and one of its own and to condemn and perhaps fight back against imperialistic and militaristic nations that violate the typical choice of neutrality of a fellow peace-loving nation. |
