Message | As Minister of Finance we strongly urge all parties to not support this bill as it will hurt our budget. We would need to raise the taxes of our citizens to keep from going into debt. We currently have a balanced budget and we wish to keep it that way. Samuel Lebowitz Minister of Finance Republic of Telamon |
Date | 20:18:14, August 10, 2009 CET | From | Democratic Capitalist Delegation | To | Debating the Free Economy Act |
Message | The statements made by Mr. Lebowitz are simply without merit. Any member of Parliament who would like to check the budget will be able to clearly see that Telamon is currently running a 4 billion TPD surplus. The only reason the corporate tax is currently at 7% and not 6% is because last legislative session, the JDL introduced and passed legislation raising the tax by 1% with no budgetary need to do so. This legislation will not hurt our budget, in fact, it will fix our budget, on top of stimulating our economy. Any party which cares for the economic health of Telamon should support this legislation and disregard the lies of the JDL. Donivan Hershey Chairman Democratic Capitalist Delegation |

Message | In fact, after running the numbers, we have been able to determine that this modest tax cut will only shave just under 625 million TPD from the surplus in excess of 4 billion. Not only do we call on this Parliament to approve this tax cut, but we call on Mr. Lebowitz to re-examine our budget and appropriately deal with the remaining surplus afterward. In addition to these calls from our party, we demand that Mr. Lebowitz resign for abusing his ministry to spread lies about the budget in order to support the political agenda of his party. His antics are outrageous and offensive to this Parliament. Donivan Hershey Chairman Democratic Capitalist Delegation |
