Message | Proposing legislation without debate is not a democratic, nor a liberal measure. Nevertheless we will support this bill. |

Message | Agreed, but there was an extremely short window if Child pornography was to be made illegal as soon as possible, and the Liberal Party saw this as an acceptable compromise due to the circumstances. |

Message | We would prefer that all pornography were made illegal, or, ideally, that this entire issue be devolved to local governments. However, we support this legislation as a great improvement on current policy. As such, we will abstain from voting on this legislation and allow it to pass, unless the PSLM vote against it, in which case we will vote in favour to ensure that it passes. We also find it appalling that the RWP have opposed this legislation, thereby essentially endorsing child pornography. We call on the RWP to explain themselves, given their questionable moral compass. |
Date | 12:27:47, August 21, 2009 CET | From | Revolutionary Workers Party | To | Debating the Change of Poronography law |
Message | The RWP see this measure, essentially, as merely posturing for the upcoming election by the Liberal Party, and will have absolutely no truck with a hashed up bill that leaves many questions and of course completely negates the debates needed around this issue. The moral outrage of the RHP is telling - if they wre really so concerned it begs the question of why they didn't propose such a measure years ago. The RWP does not agree with the state definition of what and what isn't adulthood and the age where young people can freely consent, and this bill does not take into account the other forms of pornography that are also available. With the absense of such questions answered we vote against. |

Random fact: Cabinet ministers who disagree seriously with the head of government would usually be expected to resign. Parties within the cabinet may attempt to manoeuvre to replace the head of government though, for example by proposing a new cabinet bill or voting for an early election. |
